Scotch whisky recipes

Postby rlmisso » Mon Sep 16, 2019 10:23 pm

Hello all, I am hoping to find a scotch whisky recipe that i can make form grain only. Is this "all grain whisky"? and if so are there any single malt recipes too. I am a few months into this hobby and making some really delicious Rum, but I'm keen to put some premium whisky away on oak and forget about it for a year or 2. I can't seem to find any grain whisky recipes. I've looked in the tried and tested and development part.

As always,Cheers in advance :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hi Rlmisso,
What type of scotch are you interested in trying to make?
An Islay smokey type scotch or something malty like a Glenfid? Or in between?

Most scotches use a base malt and use the addition of an adjunct malt to distinguish different flavours.

Also ferment temp when making scotch type whiskey is critical to flavour as well as aging technique.

Very good question, I was thinking like a Bowmore lslay or something like that. I'm not a huge fan yet and don't really know exactly what I like, but I am keen and trying to get into it a lot more.

Ah the mash tun! I just thought that was for beer! Thanks wooduck. I'll get cracking.

Any recipes which may be a little easier than others?
