help with pot still selection

Postby shevs » Fri Oct 11, 2019 12:42 pm

Hi everyone
Looking to upgrade from the pure distilling still that I have been running and really want to try my hand at making bourbon. So I have been looking at the pot stills available in the 5 star range and there seems to be two the 2" pot still and the 4" modular pot still. There doesn't seem to be much difference in price and I assume they will both do exactly the same job, but am I right in thinking the 4" will be quicker and the 4' modular has the advantage of being able to add to it in the future. Any advice appreciated thanks in advance.

Go the 4" pot. I loved it and eventually upgraded.

And yes I also found that I could run the 4" inch harder than my old 2" pot.

Correct, plus the 4” comes with parrot.
But, the 4” will need support if it’s going on top of the 25 or 30 liter boiler

Thanks for the help think I know which way to go. Also forgot to mention want to get a 50l milk can boiler to go with it.

The 4” pot and 50l milk can are match made in heaven and the perfect starting point for an upgrade to a 4” bubbler further down the track. A very good choice indeed.

Bubblers are fantastic. If you future proof yourself to make way for an upgrade to a bubbler, you're well on your way.
