T500 questions.

Postby jman69 » Sun Oct 27, 2019 10:35 am

Hi , i'm new to this game and was wondering about a few things. Firstly, when using a 50/50 mix of water and vinigar for the initial clean do i need to fill the boiler up to the max line? Second, can i remove the stainless saddles and replace them with copper ones?(any benifit from this?) Thirdly, the t500 instructions say to run at 55-65 degrees C. I thuoght the correct temp was about 78 degrees?? Lastly, i saw a video about making home made ''No rinse steriliser"" 6Ml. bleach, 3.6 L.water and 6 Ml. of white vinigar. Would this mix work or shou;d i buy some brand name cleaner? Thankyou in advance.Dave.

No, 6 or 7L will do. Just blast it 30 mins or so.

I wouldnt, it will cost an arm and a leg and all they will do is clump together and you will be worse off. Better to use some copper mesh. https://www.5stardistilling.com.au/?s=copper+mesh

Read the destructions again, it says to keep the OUTGOING WATER temp 55 - 65 but there are better ways found in the forums, dribble dribble drip drip

I wouldnt mix up or buy anything especially from the brew shop but thats just me.
I clean everything using Napysan if things are really manky but plain old hot water normally does the trick.
We dont need to be as fussy as beer brewers.

Ok Stig, but what about filling the colum with copper saddles?? I have made a lot of ''Copper springs'' all about one centimetre long and the diameter of a ball point pen.

Go for it and try it.
You still won’t get anywhere near the surface area that copper mesh will give you
But hey, what would I know :-B
