Boiler cleaning question.

Postby Lesgold » Sun Dec 08, 2019 4:39 pm

Hi Folks,

Just a quick question on cleaning the inside of a boiler. I have a 5l electric boiler that I use specifically for small gin runs. After a few runs with the botanicals in the boiler, a bit of a build up is occurring on the walls of the boiler from the oils etc. Hot water and detergent doesn’t do much and foreshots only works to a point. Anyone out there got some special mixes that may do the job? Don’t want to use anything abrasive if possible. Thanks in anticipation.

Cheers

Les

If you look on YouTube it shows soda blasting stainless with Bi-Carb Soda that may be worth looking at as can buy small equipment just need an air compressor.

No you can buy the equipment for next to nothing the compressor is the expensive part plus can use on other projects.

Thanks Stig and Wynnum. Tried the nappysan first and it did the trick. The sandblasting with carb soda trick is one that I’ll lock away. Looks impressive. Got the gear to do it but was too lazy to set it up for a small clean. I like that it doesn’t etch or abrade the surface of the material being treated.

I think that soda blasting oil away would just end in a gluey mess
