Cleaning Fllux marks off copper

Postby davesims » Tue Apr 28, 2020 7:35 am

Hi all

I have an issue, about 12 months back i packed all my 1/2" and 1" coppers fittings in a toolbox and put it up on a shelf, MY WIFE thought i would be a good idea to put 2 bottles of flux in the same toolbox laying down. The flux has leaked all over the fittings I have, leaked out the bottom of the toolbox and all over 2 4 foot lengths of 4" copper pipe, the pipe has now a green type colour all down it and the fittings are like mouldy and discoloured.

I have tried a Bi card and vinegar solution on part of the pipe, but the shine of the copper in some parts has faded

What is the best way to clean this mess up

Have you tried citric acid and then a good scrub with a scotch brite pad?
