Sacrificial Run - Questions

Hi All,

I'm planning on doing my sacrificial rum tomorrow (first one for me). I have a 4" FSD neutraliser. :happy-partydance:

My questions are:
1. Should I put the packing (copper mech + SSS) in the packed sections or leave the packed sections empty?
2. After the run is finished do I need to rinse out the column, bubble plates, condensers etc.? (I will rinse out the keg boiler)
3. I'm planning on doing 3x stripping runs next weekend. Can I leave the still assembled as is until then or should I disassemble it and let it dry properly?

Cheers,

Ginking

I’d put the packing in so it gets a clean as well.
You shouldn’t need to pull it down and rinse it but will need to remove the packing for your stripping runs though.

Thanks Doubleuj,

Will it be ok to leave the packing in the column until I do the stripping run and then remove it then?

Cheers,

Ginking.

You could leave it out and just clean it later too, just depends on whether you are running a neutral or not.
Plus the only reason I’d suggest to take it out when you’re doing a strip run is that it will give you a small amount of passive reflux and therefore slow down the spirit run, but not by much, and probably not even noticeably.
