Hi All,

Just starting out and decided on getting the FSD 2" Boka, hopefully next week once a good old tax rebate comes through!

I have only ran HBS turbo wash previously so looking at upping the quality of product not just from the Still but the Wash too. Initially looking at making simple Vodka and then Gin with a mini pot still. Looking at the Tried & Proven section it looks as though the TPW and WBAB are the 'goto' recipes for this.

Which is best for producing neutral?

Over time i am sure i will try both options, just need a decent first batch to keep the wife happy!

Trip to the local to pick up basic weet-bix & allbran.

Just need to hunt down some Epsom Salts to finish it off :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I don’t even add the bran, just weet-bix
I find it’s smoother than the tpw
It may just be my taste buds, who knows

Interesting, do you double up the weetbix i.e. 6 cups or just match the below without adding the allbran?

5kg sugar (white or raw)
Approx 3 cups crushed weet bix
Approx 3 cups all bran
Approx 1.5 teaspoons epsom salts
Approx 75g of bakers yeast (lowans etc)
Approx 1 teaspoon citric acid (or juice of a lemon)
Water up to around 21litre mark

Hoping to experiment with washes once i am up and running and nail the basics.

I have a FSD 2"Boka and pot.

I have run TPW and Teddy's FFV.

To my taste TPW is slightly sweet and FFV is slightly wheaty.

I use TPW if I am making Baileys clones ( and variations) or liqueur or fruity gins.

What are you planning to make for your wife?

That’s a bit of a personal question isn’t it Carol, it probably depends how much he can get her to drink :text-lol:

Thanks Carol, i will start with WB wash and run TPW as a second run to compare. Good to know TPW is sweeter as will plan ahead depending on the end product, starting with simple Vodka and also some herby / citrus Gin.

Once i get used to the basics i will look at other variations, very keen to try a whisky and age it but would hate to get it wrong at distilling stage only to find out after waiting a year after ageing!

As I said I find the taste is very slightly sweet or very slightly wheaty. You may not notice much difference at all. If I am doing vodka I go for FFV as the slightly wheaty taste is apparently similar to Grey Goose vodka.
