Leave plenty head room. In a 220l drum I leave about 30l. Foam for first couple days almost reachs top..
More molasses in wash more insane the ferment.

The first one I did , it blew the airlock out and stayed all over the ceiling :laughing-rolling:
That was a quick cleanup before the Mrs seen it .
Since then I do 30L in 60L fermenters

Don't lock it up for the first 24hrs mate, just sit lid on, once you get past the initial foam up it will fizz like coke then you can lock her up

Thanks for the info have just started the wash 20l in a 30l bucket I only have ph strips but the molasses makes it difficult to get a ph level as the strips get stained also the sg is at 1.090 should I be adding some raw sugar as well as it only has molasses

2kg sugar should see it good. Any sugar but darker sugar = more flavour...
I work in litres halve it and thats rule of thumb kg of fermentables..
5l mol 2.5kg fermentable + 2kg sugar. 4.5kg germentables tad high but cant see it being a problem. And bit stress should promote esters...

Never used any only molasses this time was going to use it when nothing was happening after a few hours ,decided to wait a bit longer at about 12 hours things changed so left it do it’s thing do you think it may benefit from adding sugar (raw) if so how much

Will bump the hearts up a bit. 2kg raw sugar will do it.
Its not nessacary but you may be dissapointef with yield if you dont.
