Peaches

Postby Moonshyner » Thu Sep 01, 2022 6:10 pm

I'm about to start a WBAB wash (25L total)

Just for something different, I want to add a can of peach slices (825g).

Would any of the peach flavour come through, or would I have to use many more cans?

I'll do a stripping run with a pot still (AlcoEngine) and then a spirit run with an airstill (Still Spirits) with reduced voltage to around 200 watts.

Any thoughts?
Cheers,

Why not just use the Alcoengine Pot Still for the spirit run ?
And I’m no expert but I would think you’ll need more peach than hat 1 can per 25L wash

I must admit Peach's is still on my bucket list to tick off as the birds seem to like all of our peach trees so never really got a good batch to use. :angry-banghead:

Now an easy method maybe for a 23 litre ferment use 5 tins and EC1118 yeast, check the SG after adding the 5 tins to warm water and give them a good mix with a paint stirrer, now use Coopers Enhancer No.2 to bump up the SG if needed and go for 1070 SG target.

Strip in the pot still and repeat the ferments until enough low wines are there for a nice slow spirit run in the potstill should produce a nice drop after aging with French Oak.

Cheers Bryan

Am still learning....or trying to.
My understanding is to do a stripping run first, then the spirit run.

So, you're suggesting I do a spirit run (with cuts) straight off the wash?

I'm willing to give it a try.

Might throw the peaches (without the juice) into the still. Might get some flavour.

Strip with pot. Then spirit run with pot. Dont dick round with airstill :handgestures-thumbupleft:

You will ned a controller though..
*Airstill is a pot still but way to small for "most" uses*

You could if you had a bubbler :laughing-rolling:
But the other 2 above detailed it better than me, thanks guys :handgestures-thumbupleft:
