Dont use a power contoller. I would call it faster not really hard and fast. But in comparrison a spirit run would be 1500w to 1800w..

Turn power on flat out and water flat out. Just make sure there is no steam, mirror will fog if there is steam at end of condenser. Do 3-4 strip runs then put it all the low wines(output of a fast run with no cuts) together and slow it down a bit for the spirit run and seperate whole run into 200ml lots I use stubby bottles.
Wait 24 hrs then find you middle bottle then taste each jar until its not nice. That is the cut off point. Do that in both direction. Move towards first jar then towards last jar. Keep everything that tastes good..

I have found as rule of thumb first quarter and last quarter is crap. Middle half is good. This varies and it might be 100-200mls either way you need to taste each jar.
By tasting each jar you develop your palate(sense of taste) once tuned into flavours it will be night and day doing cuts..

You aint a dumbarse we all start somewhere :handgestures-thumbupleft:

For a strip run on a pot still go as fast as you can with no vapour out the condenser

For a spirit run on a small pot, 2" max, you want a dribble rather then drops. I wind down power till drops, then slowly turn it up till solid stream and that is about right.

On 2" reflux still fast drips is about right just below a solid stream...

Another thing that helped me when I started. When doing cuts rather then looking for other peoples explanations of flavours, look for a change in flavour on your own tongue.

When flavour changes so do the compounds in the spirit...

Thank you so much exactly the explanation I was looking for , one final question if I’m doing 2,23liter stripping runs when I do the spirit run how much methanol do I discard I usually take 200 mills from a 25 litre wash

200 would be enough for fores cutThere would be at least that much again in stinky heads to get rid of anyway. Spirit run from 2 23l washs worth of low wines. I would expect there to be close to litre of foreshots and heads.
On a bubbler or reflux still it gets much more compressed prob be more like 600-700ml.

So 200ml would be enough to clear the methanol

Yea but I wouldnt be drinking 300-400ml more after that either. Not just methanol but acetone ethyl acetate and other chemicals in the heads...
