TPW is it done yet

Postby NoHope » Thu Sep 22, 2022 12:25 pm

I started a TPW 14 days ago the sg is at 990 and the airlock is still bubbling I’m wondering if it’s done yet
I also have a molasses and raw sugar wash that is at 1010 and also bubbling but not very frequently should I leave it abit longer

At 990 the tpw will be done , taste it is another way to tell, if there is no sugar taste it is done, likewise the wash won’t be sticky anymore as all the sugar will have been eaten by the yeast.

Not done a molasses wash before but the air vent is an unrealiable way of seeing if a wash is finished. If the wash is on the same reading for 3 days it is done or stalled, at 1010 I would be leaning towards done

Molasses will never get as low as say a TPW.
There’s a heap of unfermentables in the molasses :handgestures-thumbupleft:
