Looking for a honey-based wash recipe.

Postby Honeybadger » Fri Jul 14, 2023 10:07 am

Hi all,

I have previously owned a T500 and had some fun with it but I am now looking to expand my experiences.

I have just purchased a 5 Star 100l, 4 plate reflux still (with Carter head), I am a beekeeper and have plenty of honey that I want to experiment with.

I want to make a honey wash and would be interested to get some advice that I could consider when I start putting washes down, my goal is to produce a honey based vodka infised with chilli as well as a honey based lemon myrtle gin.

I have come across a couple of options online but was hoping to get some advice from the brains of this forum.

Thanks

Welcome Honeybadger.

I'm not sure how much fermentable sugar there is in honey. I know there's been some discussion on it here before, might be worth doing a search to see what pops up.

Good choice of still upgrade too, can't go wrong with 5 Star.

Cheers,
