Barley, barley, Bali ??

Postby markus » Mon Aug 06, 2012 5:12 pm

Ok so I'm getting all my shit together to do my first ever ferment.
I'm looking at doing mcstills knock off recipe.
I've got the corn and wheat, but what type of barley to use??
Raw barley, roasted barley, malted barley, flaked barley? Fuck :angry-banghead: so much to choose from.
So is malted barley from the HBS the germinated shit??
Any recommendations

Thanks in advance :handgestures-thumbupleft:

It is just used for flavour more than anything with this recipe, use whatever you can get :handgestures-thumbupleft:

If you use the brew shop malted barley (the germinated shit) then you would be better off mashing it (like making all grain beer) which then makes this recipe more time consuming.

Hope this helps.

Use malted barley from the brew shop. It has a different flavour to other barley.

Just get the cheap (by comparison) base malt. Ask them to crack it for you if you don''t have a mill.

Ok thanks guys
Looks like I'll go with the cheap base malt type.
