Thudding...

Hey all, so I'm doing my first stripping run atm, rig is a 3in VM with ball valve at the top to turn it into a pot still.

I'm running pot still mode atm and can hear a quick thudding noise through the outlet, also am wondering if my condensor is handling the job, it's 1 meter long 1.5 in over 1 in jacket condensor, I don't think It is knocking all the vapor down as I can feel vapor or something pushing out the outlet, in unison with the thudding noise.

Burner is a 4 ring with a Low Pressure reg (2.75KPa)

Did you check for leaks with a mirror?

Yeah I checked everywhere with mirror, and at the outlet It didn't fog up, but I can feel it pushing against my hand there ( it being air? Vapor? Dark matter?)

Oh also my temp in the column is up in the 90's, is that normal for stripping run?

Hi DC,
it sounds like your condenser is "Huffing" which is quite common, especially towards the end of the run where the temps are higher.
just stretch out a piece of scrubber and poke it up the product condenser. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Kk cheers mate :D yeah I was thinking of putting some in to slow down the flow a bit, was just worried about smearing cuts for my product run, should I try take it out for that?

I just stripped some heavy gauge cable and wound it up, stretched it out and poked it in, stopped the huffing and adds more copper exposure to the product! :)
