Postby Linny » Sat Jan 26, 2013 10:40 am

I was doing a triple distill on my first gen UJSM ... it was clean before , and now it looks like this ,,, it felt very oily

ive tried soaking in napisan ,,, dishwashing liquid ,,,, even hit it with a used green scourering pad... nothing is working ,,, when it comes to my gear im a neat freak.. and this has got me stumped

Was thinking the same kimbo, looks like a chemical reaction you get with aluminium.

I triple the first gen UJSM since i didnt like it,,, refluxed the shit out of it to make a neutral ,,, never thought of it being alumnium,, but holding it here now , it does feel light.... what i dont get is why it did this after one run ,,,, i think ive must have had over 80 runs using it ,,,

Could be something to do with the fact is was not wash you were running. You can sometimes get some funk left over on the second and third runs. Something to do with changing ph values possibly. All the shit you are taking out of the spirit has to go somewhere.
That first gen is not so nice, but you can blend a bit into the next gens, it adds a different, jim beamish flavor :scared-eek: .

If you've done over 80 runs through it, dosn't sound like a still problem, more of a charge problem?
