Tomato Paste Wash Question

Postby whimpy64 » Thu Apr 25, 2013 9:34 pm

Hi I just did my first tom paste wash using mcstills recipie...... using my Pure Distilling Home Spirit Maker Reflux Still

Was happy with the ABV and the smell of the spirit etc...... but my yield was only 1.5 Litres instead of the 2.6 Litres the recipie told me it should produce

Any ideas on this would be appreciated :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Tomato Paste Wash Question

Hey buddy, look they vary a lot. Depends on so many factors.

Ambient air temp.
Wash temp.
Wash ABV.
Water flow to the still.
Boiler temp & insulation.

You name it...the smallest variation in fermentation or in the run can affect things.

By my reckoning (I have the same still) you did fine. Think quality over quantity.

Hi all........ Thanks Backyard for the very quick response...... I am happy with that then as it only took 1.5 hours to complete the run and the product was as clean as a whistle

Thanks again

Let the cuts air with a paper towel over the jars for 48hrs and you'll see it clean up even more.
