Stripping Rum

Postby Dominator » Tue May 21, 2013 10:21 am

I will hopefully be stripping my first batch of McRum this weekend, if it finishes fermenting. I have read the guide to stripping runs and cuts in the noob section but am still not sure about a couple of things.

I am planing of chucking my fores when I strip, should I also chuck some fores when I do my spirit run?

Also do people remove heads when doing a stripping run or just keep it all together and leave it until you get to your spirit run.

Thanks guys.

You will smell the fores mate, and know when to get rid of them...even after removing them on a stripping run, I still find on the slow spirit run that there will be a small amount of fores out first.

Keep all heads and tails on the stripping run...just run it down to 20%ABV and keep it all. Most of the flavours you want are hidden in the heads and tails, so you want them in there until your spirit run...

gday mate

I always throw fores when runing my still - strip or spirit run minimum 500ml - thats just me

dont worry bout heads for the strip -- you will remove them when you do the spirit run but keep the heads you will use them again in your next spirit run
