Alcometetr: Recommended Sources and size

Postby VARocketry » Sat Jun 01, 2013 6:50 am

All:

Other than EBay, are there any favorite sources for ALCOMETERs?

2. For a whiskey pot still use, what measurement range is preferred or needed?
I see some from 0-100 %ABV and I see some in 20% ranges, ie., 80-100% abv or something similar

4. Anything to know about to NOT buy?
Thanks :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I got my alcoholometer from my LHBS. it is a (0-100%) and from memory it was around $15-18. I had a quick look on ebay and cheap ones are still about $12. For an extra few dollars I would rather support a local business.

I guess it is the same as everything, you get what you pay for. If you buy a cheap meter you should expect it to be less accurate.

I must say, I pretty much use all HBS hydrometers and alcometers.

I have used the cheap chinese ones as well, and have a few as backups, but not one of them are accurate :snooty:
