Scrap Yards in SEQ

Postby karrotbear » Tue Jun 11, 2013 3:11 pm

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone within the SEQ region could point me in the direction of a good scrap metal dealer.

I know about, and have used, United Scrap Metal Traders in Murarrie BRISBANE ($10 a kilo was a bit steep, considering they pay between 2.50 and 3 a kilo), just wondering if anyone knows of any other scrappies within the Brisbane/Sunnycoast/Toowoomba area that tend to have the goods that we are looking for. I'll be going here on Thursday morning (most likely if I win an auction for some plumbing liquidation items) and just thought I'd make the rounds whilst up there.

I want to find a treasure trove of goodies so I can make me a bubbler. (Already annoyed at the whole strip+ VM run and the time it takes, it also doesnt have the "cool" factor like a bubbler with some nice sight glasses!)

10-$12 a Kg is about standard price from scrappy's in my experience, Goes up n down a bit depending on metal prices. You will spend more in fuel chasing cheaper.

I pay around the $6 to $7/kg mark...NZ dollars that is.
Which probably works out at about $1.10 Aussie :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Buddy you could try recyclers australia in yatala :handgestures-thumbupleft: but like the folks here are saying scrappies are all pretty much the same price being they are in constant competition with each other on a daily basis :text-imwithstupid:
