I been looking round for a plasma cutter and every one I find is 15 amp power supply, trouble is my shed only has 10 amp in it.

I'm only going to be cutting thin SS and am wondering if it will really matter?

Na mate, either take a file to the earth part of the plug,or do as I did, just make up a short extension lead, about 12" long with a 15amp female end and a 10amp male end....job done :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I ordered a 15kva genset from Perth last week, with 3 15 amp outlets and 2 35 3phase outlets, the old mate told me I should run it every month or 2 for a few hours, and he asked why I started laughing....the prick.... Considering the genset will be located about 5 meters from where the fun and games is,it doesn't take Eienstein to work it out :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:
Wonder if there would be any probs turning the boiler into duel fuel? :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Not wishing to offend anyone, but I strongly disagree with the above advice and hope you do not use it.

have a look on the unit itself it should say max power/ max input/ max amps/ you'll probably find that it will be at something like 11 amps so all i would do ( not good advice coming from a sparky) is cut the plug off and put a heavy duty 10amp plug on it but if you shed has a switch board in it i would just buy a 15amp outlet and some 2.5mm twin and earth and put a new circuit in

If you don't want to risk causing fire or electrocution you have 3 real options.
1. Have an electrician install a dedicated 15amp circuit
2. Have electrician inspect circuit and swap outlet over for 15amp outlet if practical
3. Or if you believe it will not draw over 10 amp, Buy a 15 to 10amp lead with inbuilt overload protection, commonly used for caravans and cement mixers ect.

That is the easiest solution for me, seeing I'm only renting ATM.

I'll take that advice and run with it

Thank you.

So if the plasma cutter shits its self how are you going to put the 15 amp plug back 10 amp extension lead with 15 amp plug is the only way to go .
