I have recently started using a spare corny keg to collect/store low wines. The keg is a bugger to pour out of when charging my keg for a spirit run. The easiest way would be to push the spirit out with CO2 through a beer line and tap, or use an autosyphon. Problem being both have plastic/nylon components. After reading that we should avoid spirit contact with all plastics i have been reluctant to use either (and end up making a bit of a mess with spillage). Am I being overly cautious? Any suggestions appreciated.

Actually not sure you can with a pressure system :think: I know you have to be careful with certain pumps also..

I dont think pressure would be a problem, I would only use pouring pressure - less than 10psi. It is only to move low wines into my keg boiler.
I have some spare bits and pieces so I could make up a dedicated line using a SS keg disconnect - no need for a tap.

Found this post on a beer forum

something like part number 51735K26 from mcmaster-carr high purity silicone, food grade, and rated for 125psi at 68f. its f-ing expensive but it should work. its braid reinforced tubing, thats most likely why it can handle the pressure.

But apparently $11us a foot :D

Can you just make a racking cane and 'hose' out of 1/2" copper or stainless and elevate the corny?

Or 3/4" if you're in a hurry.

Thanks for that bluc. I've been scratching about in the shed and found some 1/4"ID food/medical grade silicone tube (a pick up line in my pressure fermenter). I'll make a temporary line with that. Thanks for the help.

Used a bit of copper tube as a syphon last time and got a mouth(lung!) full of low wines. :puke-huge: LOL
Was originally thinking of somehow connecting a bit of copper tube to a keg disconnect, but I think the silicone tube will do the job.
