I see that Ezy Filtration, Pure Stills, etc ALL state that the filtration process HAS to be conducted at under 50% ABV.
They state that this is because of the Carbon Filter not being able to handle the higher ALC content.

I am wondering if this is in fact the case - could this be because the Ezy / Pure etc do in fact utilise platic containers to hold the liquid whilst filtration takes place or is it really the carbon not handling high ABV ?

There is some science behind carbon filtration working best at 40%ABV, but I'm not sure what it is.

Your spirit should never touch plastic, ever. Simple as that.

On another note ,I do not like the idear of 4-5lt of high proof spirit right next to ya still,wich if you where doing a spirit run it would be even more ,this is an added danger or risk to me ,500ml will make a nice little fire but 5000ml ,no thanks .we are all capable of accidents ,and to me this post is about safety.On a larger scale this method would not be practical ,so to me it teache's bad habits wich this hobby is not very forgiving of.stay safe .cheers hillzabilly ;-)

On this note, is it okay to store low wines from stripping run in plastic water jerry cans, i have not yet started stilling but in the planning stages. Or can anyone else recommend a practical solution to be able to store 25 litre?

No mate, nothing that comes out of your still should go anywhere near any plastic.

A 50L stainless beer keg makes pretty good storage :handgestures-thumbupleft: before I had spare kegs I just used 1L Jim Beam bottles though.
