Anyone know of a good Cooper in Victoria

Postby shortybronx88 » Sat May 27, 2017 10:18 am

Howdy all,

I am not sure if this is in the right place....sorry if its wrong.

Been trying to find a good cooperage in Victoria. Not getting much luck with the old Google.

Any ideas/know of any?

Thanks

I couldn't find one online, but I think there's one at Rutherglen. Or there was, not sure if it's still there. You'd think with all the wineries around the state that there'd be at least one around. Let us know if you find anything mate :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Don't know if they're good, but there seems to be one in Yarra Glen. Looks heavily wine based, so large sizes, long lead order.

Search for cooperage, not cooper (too ambiguous a search term).

Think they're importers. Plus their barrels start at $1100, not including GST or delivery...

Roll out the barrel seems to be the cooper of choice but obviously the postage is high from QLD. Maybe there might be some bulk savings if we sent a number together, like a postage group buy
I don't have any experience with couriers or the like but it could be a solution.

Postage isn't that bad to vic. Plenty of competition among couriers these days.

Sendle is good for under 100L total volume per item- I had some packing boxes moved from vic to qld for $25 per 90L box.

Try Tasmanian Cask Co
They have American, French oak and ex bourbon barrels.
They supply a lot of top distilleries down tassie
Not sure of their prices though

There was a barrel shortage 2015 in the united states interesting what they pay for a new barrel wonder what they get for the used barrel.
