Wtf do I do ? Wrap in foil and sit in my oven for 30 mins ? How many grams per litre is the general cenus ? I have read 10 grams for litre ?

Many thanks,

If its medium toasted no need to do anything put it in your spirit at 65 abv. 15g/l if short term 3months or 10g/l if ageing 12m or more..

I have often thought that a simple aging guide in the newbie corner would be a great addition to this site.

I think the aging is the tricky bit of this whole distilling thing. it takes so long to see if something is working or not.

I hope aging is the easy part lol

I'm sitting here watching my still and thinking is this right?

I'm sure I need to make a power controller to be honest

How many cut jars do people normally end up with from a 43 litre wash?

I'm still trying to decided what %abv I stop collecting and collect in my feints keg...

The hardest part of aging is not drinking the stuff before it's finished...

Matt_Pl, I think most people stop around 15-20%. After that you're just throwing heat into the boiler for little return.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.

I collect in 300ml stubbies and usually get between 10 to 12 of them. You should notice a slow down of product and an unpleasant smell at the parrot. At this stage I reduce cooling to the reflux condenser and collect another 4 bottles to add to the next run. This stinky stuff adds good flavour to the next run imho. :handgestures-thumbupleft:
