Ok has anyone tried making a small barrel out of Tasmanian oak for aging a 'bourbon' in? Obviously am Australian based and have not seen American oak available to build one from. Cheers :text-thankyoublue:

This has come up a number of times. The advice from many has been to steer clear of it as it's really a eucalypt.

Have you tried your lumber yards for American Oak ?
(FWIW, I was surprised and found American Oak in a local yard ACT area)
