express ageing

Anyone heard/done the method of using a fridge/freezer to mimic the winter season and leaving it in the sun to mimic summer. Does this actually speed up the ageing process.

It does by expanding and contracting the wood.

i know you can't beat good ol' time, was curious to hear if anyone had used this process and what their result was. I have read some articles on using a microwave which is an interesting method.

I'm sure there's a couple of threads around here somewhere on accelerated ageing. I think The Doctor has given some great info on this too.

Do a search for "ultrasonic" or "sous-vide" and you'll get some interesting threads like this one http://aussiedistiller.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=10406
