Show Your Barrels

I'm getting a small collection of barrels over the last year of distilling.
These are from a vendor on Amazon called Sofia's Findings.
They're from 3-liter to 10-liter. All #3 charred American oak.
Minor leaks, if any, were easily resolved with soy wax.

I like the small barrels for their short (1 year) aging, ease of filling, and mostly --COST.
I bet some of you folks have some nice barrels to show off.

Nice collection!

I am somewhat envious .. I do have a barrel (3L) that I received from a kind friend (bugburner) but I am struggling to keep it filled. Work commitments are killing me (and my spare time)! Joys of owning your own businesses...

I am much happier, tho working for myself! Boss is a bastard, tho 8-}

EDIT:- I should say that mine looks a lot more grungy than yours!

Why does everyone ruin perfectly good barrels by putting taps in them.

I've got 6 20L from a local distillery (mostly for beer brewing), 2 200L wine barrels of flanders red, a piece of shit 20L easy barrels barrel full of rum, and a very old 5L port barrel. I'd get photos, but they are all spread out over my shed, so it's a bit hard.

Short bit of hose and suck and they empty pretty quick. You get to taste the product too if you are a bit slow. :)

I've had no luck with taps. They always seem to leak. Just a bung in the top is perfect for me.

:laughing-rolling: that was a concern for me - no god trying to breath it! But I am warming to your way of think...

You must have one clever 2yr old... just not helpful in this instance. 2 to 3 year olds always seem to want to 'help' :laughing-rolling:

I'm sure all the dangerous stuff is well out of reach though, right Josh... because we would hate to see an unfortunate accident involving kids.

Not having a go mate just pointing out how vigilant we all need to be with our safety, especially around the kiddies. Even the "low" % alcohol in these barrels can be extremely dangerous if miss treated. Safety first guys :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Great to hear mate, I knew you'd be all over it :handgestures-thumbupleft: good idea with the coloring, I might have to do that.
