Howdeee,
i would like to know if anyone has tooled around with different types of timbers or raw materials for ageing and or flavoring rather than oak, if so what was the outcome :puke-huge: mmmmmmm Red Gum Whisky.......??????

there's a pretty good reason that so few botanical species are used for 'oaking'....and time (LOTS of time) has refined the recommended subset.
No doubt there may be other options but.........
and the (IMHO) bs about redgum needs some serious investigation/research.... as my understanding is that an Aussie redgum tree, beit river or forest, is an eucalyptus (or corymbia/denhamia nowdays :roll: ) and such oils ARE toxic to humans.
