Glycerine

Hey guys,
Whats everyones thoughts on using glycerine in your spirits to smooth it up?

I used to do it all the time but now that I've learnt yo make good cuts it's not needed as my product is already smooth. The other thing it adds is sweetness but I hate that flavour now, so don't use it for smoothing or sweetening. Each to their own though.

Yeah I tried it too and was convinced it gave me a tummy ache :)) and honestly couldn't really tell any kind of difference

I would wonder what you are after mate...you will not get a quality product due to the points mentioned above, so you may as well make neutral and put essence in. I don't recommend this method of making booze, but I would put adding glycerine in the same category.

On the flip side, it can be a useful ingredient in making liqueurs, where the syrup texture and added sweetness can be a benefit to the drink you are attempting to achieve.

Glycerine was only used in the moonshine days to fake proof with the bead test nothing to do with taste so I've heard I may be wrong though
