Has anyone else done this with any success????

As above - 5L Demijohn + 5L of 40% spirit + 100g Oak Wood Chips + 1 Aerator and stone

Aerate for 1 week, add flavour of choice, put in freezer for another week..... and yum!

I just use a simple aquarium aerate.

Hey mate, welcome to the forum :greetings-waveyellow:

If you have a look in the Newbie's Corner, there's heaps of helpful information in there to get started in further understanding the hobby and jargon involved. In particular is the GLOSSARY OF TERMS, which lists:

"NEUTRAL: An odourless tasteless spirit."

Hope that helps you a bit :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Cheers Brendon,

And, yes 90% neutral reduced to 40% with natural spring water. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I wouldn't go oaking anything at 40% you want to be up around the 65% mark to extract the best flavours from the oak ;-)
