Sultanas

Guys what does adding a handful of sultanas to the spirit do? Does it impart any flavour or just filter out some of the bite?

To a rum it adds some flavour (sultana/raisin funny enough) and some colour. Never added to anything else. I guess its a sort of richness/caramely creamy mouthfeel... sounds poxy but can be quite nice with some other spices
