These barrells seem too good to be true.. black/steel and brass hoops,

a nice article about oaking

Has anyone used this company before? The barrels are significantly cheaper than other places I have found.

I was thinking of getting some as christmas presents...

Freight from the states will be the killer, I'd say... Possibly quarantine issues too?

In terms of quarantine, the suggestion to me was that they prefer the barrel be charred rather than toasted? But I can't confirm or deny this as I haven't imported any.

But I suspect others are, looks very similar to a group buy I saw ($75 for a 3L barrel). On that basis, I think you'll make a decent saving on buying a larger number of them than singles regarding freight.

Yeah was planning on buying 4 of them, 2x2L and 21L.
That would reduce shipping costs.

I gave the aussies a go.... They were about twice the price if not more. Their products looks fantastic though and is in a different league. They seem to stain the wood, which looks fantastic (Although it makes me worry that it would seep into the product it is storing, wood is porous after all).

The maturing barrels should all come without any stain :handgestures-thumbupleft:

It may well be!

There are plenty of coopers around that make a good product, ROTB are a popular one buy I'm sure if you looks around you'll find other, possibly more local, options...

The joy you get buying the cheap barrel off eBay will wear off quickly when it makes your liquor taste like lacquer.
