12l Barrel

Postby hayden89 » Fri Jun 26, 2015 10:59 pm

Just wanted to show off my latest purchase, a 12l oak barrel.
Apparently it started its life as a full size whiskey barrel and then somewhere just out of Melbourne in March 1999 it was made into this 12l mini barrel.
The previous owner has used it for port and sold it to me still with 10l of port in it, which im trying to get rid of among family and friends.
Only paid $140 for it so pretty stoked and the plan is to fill it full of NGW.
Also should i rinse with water once i empty it or just load it up for a unique flavor.

Nah I wouldn't put water in it.

Be aware your first batch through will taste like port :handgestures-thumbdown:

Or :handgestures-thumbupleft: if that's what you want ;-)

If your game I would suggest that you refurbish it so you effectively have a new barrell like this :handgestures-thumbupleft:
