Malt flavouring

Postby perroloko » Wed Jan 06, 2016 11:55 pm

Hi - so this guy reckons that he infuses malt into his white dog.

http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9509

Have anybody tried infusing malt into white whisky ?

I reckon I am going to give it a try but using something like this http://www.thebrewshop.com.au/castle-peated-smoked-malted-barley

I mean why not right

How about if you put some malt barley in the vapour path like you would with a gin when making a neutral like tpw?

Be interested if it works with malt whether it also works with corn. Just bought a 40 kg bag of cracked maize to play with but will be a while before I can experiment. Until we've settled in up north anyway.

I understand your thought process, but it would need to be done in a thumper type setup as a malt syrup as opposed to grain, raw malt is not too pleasing to taste, mix it with some caramel or even honey and you might be onto a winner...

Got the order on the way today

How would you go about mixing it with honey and caramel ?

This may sound strange but would you just put some honey on to of the malt and infuse it ?

maybe slowly boil the malt im a small portion of water and add your caramel n stuff. simmer for a while and reduce water till you have a syrup. Might work
