Yeah thats right no heat needed well at least when I did mine. Make sure you have a silicone gasket and you should get a great seal :D

I have found that its better to heat the copper, as it will draw the solder down into the join ( or at least around the join).
The experts here may have a better method :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Kimbo do you mean heat it real hot like when you are silver soldering?or just heat it a bit to help it flow a bit better,,?

Yes, it wont need to be red hot. try and heat the whole join uniformly, periodically touching the solder on the join to see if it will melt.
The key is to get the copper to melt the solder..... not the flame.
You will know when its ready and just put a small blob on the join. you should be able to move the flame tip around the join and have the solder follow it. ( it will follow the heat).
You should only need a small to medium flame......Not flat out.

Remember when we were kids and we used to make molds and melt lead to make sinkers ? ........Just thinking.....Big long skinny sinker mold kind of like a stick if solder .......with wasted melted solder poured into it (not lead) .......just an Idea

I'm pretty sure I remember reading about another member on here trying to use all the excess solder that dripped onto his workbench/floor but he said it was shithouse to try and get to stick. Might be worth a try though I guess, desperate times and all.

Im thinking of grinding the ends back and going for more silver solder, been getting real small holes, and seem to be chasing my tail(solder) as in fixing one hole and getting another,I put the hose on one end and when I put my finger on the outlet to make a little pressure,I get another hole, farkin shits me,,,if it still leaks after this ie,another spool of silver solder, ill restart it I think, pull it apart and start again,,as now I have a drill!yeeeeeeeeeew!!
Ps does it matter that the condensor has just about a whole 20$ roll of silver solder?weighs heaps,,and ill prob add another.... :handgestures-thumbupleft:
