Thanks lads.

Scythe, when dipped to a depth of 10cm, it will draw approx. 20ml and when dipped to 30cm it draws a shade over 60ml. Using 1" pipe instead of 3/4 would yield about 1.7 times these volumes.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.

Looking forward to seeing what designs others come up with DBV but I suspect once I locate some 1", I'll be whipping another one up myself.

Cheers,

I hand something in mind where I'd use the pipefrom PG & the handle 'like' DBV... I was think a reducer on the pointy end of the thief going into an endcap...

I would like to have the handle to be more of a Heart shape (well half of one) ... but that is more cosmetic than functional!

I reckon that would look great ET. The only reason I used elbows for my handle was that I can't even fold tinfoil properly let alone bend a bit of pipe!

The end cap idea will work beautifully and that's probably what I will do when I make my one incher. Just don't make your hole too big or the liquid will just dribble out regardless of whether you have the other end blocked with your thumb or not.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.

Heres my quick knock up of one last weekend. I only wanted a small one so that I could sample from the aging jars :D

The tip is 1/4 then 3/8 then 1/2 then finally the barrel 3/4.

I bought a crack pipe from the local “off ya tree” shop.
It gives me a couple of ml using it like a pipette.
Two from the jar and 4 from a glass of water gives me enough to test.
Plus it was fun to see the look on the young lass’s face when I asked.
I’m old, fat and look like a farmer. :)
