Are ball mason jars ok for maccerations? Any leaching etc? Legit ones btw not knock offs..

bluc, if u buy them new i believe they are quite expensive, i got a heap (for preserving fruits) off Fleabay/gumtree...second hand, you may be able to score a good deal if you are not in a hurry.

Yea expensive is right :scared-eek: but i only need a couple a litre of the southern comfort and a litre of spiced rum will do me for a year, really not big on maccerations..

Had couple cheepie jars break wanted something better quality. Have not tried the woolies ones though. Will keep them in mind :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I've been using them for the whole time I've been making spirits... never had one break. The seem relatively well made.

Wire clamp mate. They come with a seal, but I take that off and sit a piece of paper between the jar and lid. I don't know how well the seals seal anyway?
