Here's my parrot.

After reading about what it can do I decided to build one to help counter my inexperience.
Seems to work OK. After taking off the foreshots, I slide the parrot into the system and empty it at the end of each cut jar to limit smearing.
It's certainly useful to know the ABV of the output in real time.
I made it from parts from the local plumbing store. Silver soldered it together. Gave it a bit more of a clean up after I took this photo.
I thought about fitting a drain at the bottom but was concerned it could be a bit slow changing over.

Whats the hose on it? Silicone?

I don't think it's silicon. It's just surplus cut off the output line which comes with the kit so hopefully it's ok!

Looks too ridgid to be a silicone hose.
Ditch it and use copper tube instead.
Any plastic in contact with high %ABV is a bad idea.

As said, lose the plastic hose... plastic should never come into contact with your spirit.

Some put a valve on the bottom to help with draining while it stays in the stream but it does add a layer of complexity to the build.

Ptfe comes.in expanded and hard. it may be hard ptfe thats not expanded like seals or plumbers tape ptfed p

Something else that im looking at building.
