Originally my hoses were the supplied red & blue plastic and they still form the major hosing components, but we are slowly re[placing them with those very pretty braided hose lines that will, one day when we have a more permanent base, go into the beautiful copper lines... as in hard piped in.

No pics, because we aren't yet in a permanent location!

i managed to get those braided fancy lines for dare i say it free (i'm very lucky) i was thinking of having 1 10,000 litre tank off my shed to use as storage and have 1 of those ibc 100ltr tanks in the shed with a pump to keep the pressure consistent for the still and pump back the waste water to the top of the tank

Yer, I hear these plans and am green with envy. While IBCs are easy for me to get, I am a long way off a new Shed with massive tank! What are you using the 10K water tank for? Just for your hobby or is it part of your home's water supply?

A design for cooling recycled water that I particularly like is the use of 2 tanks (IBC size) side-by-side, hot water goes into the first tank thru the top and is fed out at the bottom into the top of the Second tank. Then the cool water is drawn from the bottom of the second tank to be put into the cooling cycle...

10,000 ltr tank will be used for not just the still fruit trees and chooks will benefit from it they are fairly cheap about 1000 for the 10,000 ltr tank

I have a tank 600-1000L I'm not 100% on the size and a 44 gal drum with a pump for pressure maintenances. Tank is basically just for my distilling. I cycle it all back into the big tank which cools it well and truely before it i need to top up the drum again

I can do pics on my next brew day

Try this one,

viewtopic.php?f=36&t=5400#p90942

I use my 22500ltr rainwater tank for cooling. It runs off a pump into the still then back out a garden hose to the top of the tank.

Simple pot still with Liebig condenser, I'm using a 1000 litre ibc with pump.
Just make sure your hoses come in from underneath so they don't kink :handgestures-thumbupleft:

i have a dedicated 10k coolant tank behind my shed... to keep pressure constant i just bleed some high pressure pump output water directly back to the tank... during the run my pump never stops... after the bleed off i split the inlet (to the still) water pipe into 2 feeds, 1 for pc, 1 for rc. the pc exhaust water line returns directly to the tank and the rc exhaust water line goes up to the top of the shed and runs into a cutoff bottle that is plumbed to drain into the spouting (which returns to the tank) therefore cooling it a bit before it gets back into circulation. this is how i judge how much coolant is going to the rc.

the only thing ive changed is to put a drain into each circuit at the lowest point to allow me to drain them so they wont freeze and burst in winter.

id like to change...
1. put flowmeters into each circuit rather than watching the rc output pour into the catch bottle

2. longer stainless braid hoses in the still cupboard so the its easier to hoist the still for configuration changes.

theres a few pics of my system floating around... or i can take some more if you like..

cheers all looking like this could turn into a good thread with a whole heap of ideas
with the way water is priced these days i think its well worth the $$$$ to invest in a closed system
