Wondering if anyone has any recommendation's on a wireless thermometer? I need long range ~100m more would be awesome.
I also need to be able to program alarms a temp decreasing alarm when it falls to a specific temp( would like to add corn to boiling water than have an alarm when its ready to add the malt) also an increasing temp alarm for when temp comes up to temp.( when its ready to add strike water to mash tun).

Would like it fairly accurate, a degree or two either way would be fine..Also would prefer complete battery powered, both transmitter and reciever..

That's a pretty long range - most BBQ type remote thermometers would struggle with that. Most get to about 30m and are pretty average after that.

Do you have wifi across that 100m range(or at each end)? There are a few wireless lan based products available that could work.

If you have wifi and you're handy, you might be able to build one of the open source thermometer projects (like heatermeter or BBQ WLAN on Rpi or Brewpi on spark/rpi). With a bit of tinkering you could do the mashing and fermenting control on the one kit. This would also allow you to boost the wifi power with bigger antennas, etc. With this kind of thing, you could have alerts sent to your mobile phone via email or app.

Yea that's what I am looking at lots of instructions I was just looking at one that even has a webpage access from any browser.

Something else interesting I just found was a digital hydrometer and thermometer that measures a ferments gravity and temp in real time and logs it to google docs spreadsheets and I think from there can be put into graphs etc. Could be useful for logging info to find what works the best and also would save a lot of manual stuff taking reading data entry etc.

I'm actually waiting on some parts now (for another project) that could upgrade my digital thermometer to have that kind of range.

Do you have clear line of sight between where you want this set up to where you want to read it from? Because laser transmission would be another possibility.

When the bits turn up and I start range testing I'll let you know how it goes, could be the end of the month though coz they are coming from China.

This would be an easy task for a micromite running MMBasic and using a DS18B20 temp sensor along with a wifi embedded board. Both are included in the instruction set so they are dead easy to interface and one could easily read it on the web.
