so im geting the shits with my siphon getting clogged up with grain when i put my wash in the keg. HBS wanted $14 for a crappy bit of fabric just wondering what everyone used as an alternative i mean ill buy one if need be its only 14 but on principle i was kinda pissed that theyed try and charge that much ami missing something is it a special fabric or something

You can put a bit of stainless scrubby in the front of the hose. I just put a sock in the top of my boiler and catch the grainy bits with that.

i use a proper siphon with the little ball in it so that wont work cheers though might just buy the bag i think

I use some fly screen doubled over. Works awesome for fruit & grain and cost about $1.50

Check out a fabric called Swiss voile from most fabric shops - most BIAB brewers use 'em... :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I dont use a siphon, I use a funnel. It works quite well.

I use a plastic 600ml bottle (currently Sprite) with several small holes drilled in the bottom half. I then tape the top to my siphon hose. It's cheap, doesn't slow and works well for what I've needed.
