Poverty parrot!

Hey made a quick parrot,just with a few scaps(not that you could tell of course),she ain't pretty,made with ten thumbs! :handgestures-thumbupleft: filled it with water and it seemed to fill up and flow back out the fill point :laughing-rolling: is this normal with water??

A bigger pic would help. And acording to the laws of physics, well my understanding of them anyway, it should not come back out the fill point.

yer I was running the water too slow,also was a bit of crap in the bottom,.

Howdy,

if it's a 1" main tube using std. alco meter or a 3/4" using a Euro slim line alco meter It's ok in my books.

Actually don't mind the design...simple and clean.

cheers man..the pot still will be inspired by your one,and also I got Another 2.6mtrs of 50mm,plus 2.5mtrs of 18mm copper pipe,35$ all up!!but looking at my parrot,,well it could all change :laughing-rolling: ,,want to look at making reflux condenser next after the pov pot. :handgestures-thumbupleft: :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hi jason. Looking good so far but at the moment your condenser is facing upwards. You may need to get a angle join between the condenser and still head so the condenser is facing down or your product will run backwards :laughing-rolling:

As for the flange to connect the still to the kettle I got a large pipe clamp and loosely tightned it around the flange on the keg to get the correct circumference the I got the main piece of copper and hammered the inside of the pipe to start to stretch the pipe to slowly form the flange. I found it easy to go slow and I used a balled ended hammer. Once I felt it was stretched out enough I stood the pipe up wards and ran the flat side of the hammer down the pipe to fully flatten the flange. Make sure yo have the pipe on some wood so you dont stuff up ur copper.
Once it felt the flange was the correct size I measured with the pipe clamp. I actually made my flange a little larger then the clamp which I found to be better as I was able to run the angle grinder around the flange to get the correct diameter :D

You may want to do this before you do any soldering as you need to manuveure your piece of tube a fair bit :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Yer I gotta get an angle bit to make it face downwards,lol,I left that bit out of the pick.......i suppose being copper I won't heat it,just slowly beat it on wood,thanks for the tip of not soldering it together first!!was going to do that,so cheers!cant wait to get it running now :handgestures-thumbupleft: cheers again for the advice :D

Hey with soft soldering do you need to heat the copper or just use flux and a heating iron?
