Post Mix kegs - heads up

Postby bt1 » Sat Sep 21, 2013 7:56 am

Hello all,

Had a long chat with local HBS guy Bill @Brewmaker last week, mainly on hops and beers.

One thing he did mention was Pepsi US has changed over to cartonised syrup systems so the availability of post mix kegs is drawing to a close.
Some smaller clearance batches of these kegs coming through at inflated prices but the main supply is finished.

So if you're contemplating 19lt SS post mixers for storage, beers get in while the going is good.

Hey bt1, there is another options mate, all that will happen is 19L kegs will be available with a different fitting, you can also get brand new 19l kegs with the same fittings and also these is an adaptor that converts the new to the old fitting but both options are expensive.

I'm up to 18 kegs now so Iv got no problems :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Yeah bushy my plan at my next place is to fridge 20 kegs then I can store kegs of 10% + beer away for 12 months or more and also brew all my summer lagers 8 months in advance.

I was told this about six years ago, quick buy up kegs cos their moving to a bag system, so I got an extra two, only got four into total but I move a lot with work so can't justify carting them about, anyhoo I kinda smelt ulterior motives cos the shop shut down a few months later, still got the spare two sitting in the shed..
