Excuse my ignorance but what is the benefit of water cooling? Will it minimise evaporation? Give better ABV reading on alcometer?

Very interested to hear more :-)

That's awesome bloke! Very creative, but, is your PC not efficient enough to get the temp to 21?

In the background is that an ashtray for a motorbike. :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Sorry, had to do that....

You don't need to cool your parrot, unless he falls off his perch your condenser should cool the vapour properly.
Hence the name... condenser.

BUT
Nice to see some lateral thinking.... keep at it mate. :handgestures-thumbupleft: :handgestures-thumbupleft: :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Found the young fella hammering the small PC for the short column reflux flat this morning. Already had the little condensor' made so I though bugger it why not attach the condensor' to the parrot and see how it goes.

Hey Kelby, I will get the 1"-1 3/4 reducer after work tomorrow. Then it'll be complete. :handgestures-thumbupleft:
A benignity I noticed will be that the product will be in contact with about half the condenser when the main tube is full. Should get more accurate readings then, without always having to temp correct :happy-partydance:

I should add, the young fella is 3, and when I asked him what he was doing he replied working like daddy. He's been watching me anneal and flatten some pipe into sheet.

Do me a fave,

Put a vent in the beast if you using a connector soldered to still... avoids vacuum locks especially on shut down.

Decided this arv to make the beak. Flattened some 2" into a sheet then cold chiseled scrap away, formed the tapered sides on a dolly and soldered the whole thing on.

The base is a piece of busbar, so solid copper. Gives it a good weight to balance the cooler. In the end I really only built it because I could :laughing-rolling: , and want to see what the temp drop will be in use. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Nice work mate. As it won't need much water you could get a small pump and some constant 20deg water and then you would have 20deg distillate. No more calibration. Will make a very accurate read :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Just going to run a 10% leak off, off the main water feed. Edit to my above post, the youngfella flattening the old one facilitated this whole episode. :laughing-rolling: Made a smaller version yesterday for a mate too. :-D
