My new fermenter

Postby Guppy » Fri Sep 05, 2014 8:34 pm

Howdy gents, went for a drive on Sunday with the missus on a 3 hour trip to Maryborough to purchase these babies.
3 x 100 litre stainless olive oil tanks with stainless taps.

Even stopped off at Holgate for lunch on the way back.
But in order to get approval to buy these from the minister for finances (especially as I had gone way over my brewing budget this month) I told her I was going to sell 2 of them and only keep one.
Now that I've got them I'm not so sure.
Going to use one to ferment in after doing a scotch whiskey mash with Maris otter, medium peated malt and a touch of Munich.
I may use the second for a boiler once I decide to upgrade and the third maybe an aging tank. Or maybe I should sell one just to keep the little lady happy.

Doing a 3 litre starter of US05 now so she's good to go by Sunday.

Niether mate, Im in Se melb burbs...I drove 3 hours to Maryborough Victoria to get them.

As for what they cost me I would want $175.00 for the one without the stand. It has a few minor dents but other than that is in good nick.

We use these for 100 liter olive oil tanks for pre barrel aeration of our cask strength whiskeys, four months on bubbler with two year old Nadalie french shiraz planks ...the shiraz tartrates give the whiskey the requisite mahogany glow without using 806 caramel the whiskey is then barreled for 4 years. Olive oil tanks are a very cost effective tank for ageing ...ours have a hole in the top to take a aeration line which we plug if we just want a sealed tank. I am sure you will be real happy with these.
