200L plastic fermenter drum ideas

Postby Rowey » Fri Mar 27, 2015 6:50 pm

I am trying to work out how to best turn a 200L blue plastic drum into a fermenter After a few ideas.

The drum is a closed top with 2 x 2inch bungs
Is it best to cut a hole in the top of the lid big enough to pour in ingredients and wash out?
Is it worth installing a tap? or just syphon or pump into the boiler?
How to seal the hole in the lid once fermenting?

Cheers I know there will be some good ideas out there :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Take you a 5 gal bucket and cut it down to where the lip is (around 8 inches from top). Cut a hole in your drum and slide bucket down in it and use some food grade silicone to hold it down and then 4 stainless bolts if your bucket allows for it.
