New Fermenter Query

Postby Hardie355 » Tue May 26, 2015 4:51 pm

Hi All,

A mate of mine picked up 4 of these 60l drums for me they have been used to store chlorine tablets in a bag inside.
They do have a slight odour (chlorine) but nothing overwhelming so ive had them soaking with water and bi carb for a couple of days and they seem to smell ok now,
Just after anyones opinion on wether I should use them or not? If I have to turf them it wont worry me as they cost me nothing :D

Cheers,

Some people have used these in beer brewing, which is the same fermenting process and the only issues that have been raised is chlorine killing yeast off in tubs that may have some internal surface scratches where the chlorine has penetrated deeply into the plastic.
But with a good soak in some hot water they should be good as gold.
