Why vacuum breaker on parrot?

I'm making a parrot and noticed that there seems to be -on other parrots- either a small tube to atmosphere just before the parrot or an inline chamber with holes in it upstream of the parrot. Do I need to put one of these in? What does it do?

Cheers :text-thankyoublue: :text-thankyoublue:

If it's a free standing parrot no.

If it's clamped to your still then yes, if you don't have one your alcometer will continually Bob up and down :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Oh ok, so free standing with the big (hopper/funnel) does'nt need one, but a fixed parrot does. That makes sense.
