A thumping benny

Postby benpandaae86 » Fri Sep 18, 2015 12:04 pm

Ok so with my boiler i intend to build a thumper its massive to say the least but im puttin it on a 80l boiler if thats any justifaction (probably still compensating)

Parts list
8 inch pipe 355mm high
8 inch ferrule 45mm high (its more like 8 1/4")
2 x 8" - 4" reducers 110mm high
Total height 620mm

Maybe 1 or 2 sight glasses i was tryn to figure out how to put a glass tube on the side for a height guage i was thinkin of gettin a 3/4 sight glass tube with a longer glass tube and threaded rod

Not sure on risers and downcomer size yet still tryn to nut that out

I have enough 4" to make the cap and 2.5" to make the riser and 1" for the downcomer
I have plenty of 3",2" and 3/4 to if im tryn to ova do it

The question i have is if my still is 4" will going back to 2" restrict flow ensayin that i will only have single 2" caps on my plates

Sorry bout the pic been sideways

The downcomer needs to be lower than the riser.

Only other thing is to stop vapour going up the downcomer with a bend or cap.
