Dunno what the flow rate is, I'm not big on measuring shit outside of work :teasing-tease:
A full stripping run on my 2" can be 4hrs, maybe use 3/4 to full drum, hence the backup. But it is cooler here so water is colder to start off with compared to u.

If it helps I used to strip 2 x 25l wash then do a spirit run with the combined low wines of the mentioned strip runs on 220l water with no active cooling on the water.

I use the 350w Ozito pump in a 220L drum (I have two drums full of water)
A single 45L run through four plates will heat up both drums from 22• up to 36• .... I swap the drum once the first heats to 36•.
I have measured the flow through my still and the pump produces about 6L per minute.
I will be looking at other options in the future but can cope for now.

I'm off to Bunnings tomorrow to pick up a submersible pump.
My cooling tank is outside so probably 5m-7m or so from my still, so which would you guys opt for out of these two. I will be running the main feed into a 4 way manifold so no pressure on the pump via the bypass.

I've just been looking at the full range and can't work out why this 780w pump is so cheap!? Anyone got any ideas?

I run a re circulating system using a gutted 2.6kw air con unit as I keep my water in a wheelie bin as I have bugger all room. On my stripping runs it gets up to about 34, that is the water going back into the wheelie bin after its been through the air con cooler and my 2.5inch, 5 tube, shotty. I think it gets a little warmer when I do the spirit run but also I am not throwing as much heat at it as when you are stripping but it does so well for only a small unit and the wheelie bin is only half full of water. Adding ice into the bin helps a little bit but I have never needed to add a shit load to bring the temp down. I am currently looking for another 2.6 or 5kw unit to either use in conjunction or replace with the one I currently have for extra cooling to assist in summer as the pump is only rated to 40 degrees I think so it don't blow up. :D

I also use one of those ozito pumps but mine is only 350w and thats heaps of power and head room to pump from my wheelie bin to my shotty, through the air con cooler and back into the wheelie bin. Mine aslo was about 80 bucks at bunnings and the good thing is it has a 3 year warranty  . I reccomend it, hasent let me down yet but i have only had mine a year. If it blows up after 3 years its done its job and ill buy another :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I ended up going with this one
http://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-550w-c ... p_p4816365
I also picked up a Holman 4 way manifold

I'm glad I didn't get the bigger pump. This thing moves some water.

I had some dramas with the manifold. Would not stop leaking when under a bit of pressure so back to Bunnings it went. I just went with a simple Tee diversion back to the drum. Easier, cheaper & no leaks.

Have finally moved forward with my cooling system, I've gone for an IBC and found a bore pump on eBay for $100, I cut water lines into my slab before my tiles went down, I have had the cooling lines come into the brew room split so I can add a cooling block, this will eventually be in my cool room, chilling all incoming water, I know this isn't really needed for running my still but I will also be using the water to cool my brewery.
